It's obviously pretty dirty here, in need of a wash and swirl marks everywhere. First mission was to remove the canopy. That came with it's own surprise
A strange putty like substance which was really hard to remove and of course a serious build up of grime. I got to work on the putty, with some car wash and a brush for the paint and an old card to try and remove most of the putty from the plastic.
Eventually it was starting to look a bit better. It's far from perfect, the dirt is embedded in the paint but at least the putty is gone.
If you're wondering what a few years of a canopy does to a vehicle, this is after a wash - it's been rubbing away for years and damaged the paint badly.
After the washing it was time for additional cleaning, in the form of claying, polishing, sealant and waxing. This isn't a show vehicle and it has plenty of deeper scratches in addition to the swirl marks so I just wanted to get it cleaned up a bit and add a bit of protection going forward.
These were all in my garage so limited lighting but it's looking a lot better and so it should, that's a few hours work right there! I'm more on the cautious side so the engine bay is still a work in progress, there has been minimal cleaning and it's without introducing large amounts of water so slow progress.
